Massage Flow is an unparalleled practice that joins two transcending traditions into one for the ultimate healing experience. Guided by both a yoga instructor and massage therapist, this offering has been uniquely cultivated to offer you the physical support or myofascial release for you to dissolve deeper into your practice. You will have multiple opportunities to lean into the healing hands of your massage therapist and revel in the blissful release of yoga infused with massage.
- About Instructor: My name is Lauren Pidone and am from Washington DC. My love for yoga began as a way to express myself physically, emotionally and energetically. Yoga, meditation and movement have become my greatest tools for healing and strengthening both body and mind from chronic pain and traumas. Inspired by a blend of yoga styles, my classes allow students to cultivate strength, confidence, balance and peace on and off the mat.
- About Massage Therapist / Bodyworker: My name is Heather Welch. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist, a Neuromuscular Therapist, and a Yoga Instructor in Sarasota, Florida. I graduated from the Sarasota School of Massage Therapy in 1996, and became certified in NMT at that time. I also specialize in these modalities: Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Prenatal Massage, Energetic Bodywork, Traditional Massage of Thailand, and Active Fascial Release. In addition to massage, I received my YT200 Yoga Teacher Training from Pineapple Yoga Studio in 2018. My lovely, little studio is located in historic Burns Court, in downtown Sarasota, and has two treatment rooms and a cozy yoga space. I have partnered with my daughter, Trinity, who is currently studying Alternative Medicine, to create Unwind Massage and Wellness Studio. We have some local, handcrafted retail, and we collaborate with other local wellness practitioners, such as herbalists and personal trainers. We offer customized, therapeutic massage treatments, designed specifically for you. Our skilled therapists use their particular skill sets and a variety of modalities. The idea here at Unwind is to help you feel great, both during your massage and in your daily life!

Whether you’re climbing real mountains or navigating through all of life’s surprises, it all begins with the mindset of feeling good along the way. By staying connected with the breath and experiencing peace within yourself, this alignment-based yoga class will give you a chance to feel calm and strong.
- About Instructor: Gillian Whatmore: A Swedish yoga devotee since high school and a massage therapist for 30 years, this whimsical soul shares magic both on the yoga mat and on the massage table. With extensive experience coupled with the Anusara Yoga approach, Gillian is a wealth of knowledge in the yoga studio – you’ll be sure to sparkle a little brighter when leaving her class. Her passion for healing and helping deeply resonates on the massage table. As a Neuromuscular Massage Therapist and a practitioner of John Barnes Myofascial Release, Gillian has a wonderful method of transporting you into an optimized version of yourself, both physically and energetically. When she’s not at the studio, check the water for you may see her racing her Sunfish sailboat! Favorite asana: “Half-moon pose because it counters our daily motions and lets us shine out.” What she loves about Unwind: “It’s genuine nature” (we love your genuine nature too, Gillian!)

Therapeutic yoga for deep rest.

Known to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, this passive class guides participants into reclined postures softly supported by props and held for five or more minutes each. The practice closes with Yoga Nidra, or “Yogic Sleep,” which is a state of consciousness between sleep and wakefulness. They say 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra = 3 hours of deep REM sleep and can rest the mind, reduce stress, and leave you feeling relaxed and restored.

Originally designed for our own mother, this class offers women in their golden years a chance to feel good, despite what their bodies have experienced or are going through. Encouraging the use of blocks, bolsters, and blankets when needed, over time this class improves core stability to improve balance, increases hip and shoulder flexibility, and promotes longevity.

The stars have aligned for Unwind to spark an insightful celestial experience with a yoga guided by Gillian and Stargazing led by astronomer, Alex Martin! Illuminated by the full moon, settle into a calm and grounding yoga practice. As a form of Earthing, kick off your shoes, feel the soil beneath your feet and reconnect your human body to earth’s surface electrons. Afterward, peer into the night sky through the powerful telescope lens and humbly voyage into the vastness of the cosmos – who knows what you’ll uncover written in the stars!
Introducing a new meaning to “Root to Rise,” Unwind invites you to join us for:
- Full Moon Yoga at 5:30 PM
- Refreshments at 6:30 PM
- Stargazing at 7:30 PM
- As always, delightful homemade refreshments for you to enjoy!
Backyard Yoga is the next morning Sunday, February 5 at 10:30 AM. There might be room for a couple of tents on the property – ask Heather 😉

Together, we come into the breath and quiet the mind as we find steadiness in asana surrounded by the cleansing power of mother nature. As we absorb Vitamin D, and tune into the natural melodies of the great outdoors, we practice appreciating the strength of our practice without needing to achieve anything other than coming into the present moment and truly experiencing it.
Come as you are, be in the flow, and enjoy homemade pastries, coffee and mimosas.
