Cleanse: Backyard Flow
A Monthly Ritual Offered by Unwind
First Sunday of the Month 10:30 AM
Together, we come into the breath and quiet the mind as we find steadiness in asana surrounded by the cleansing power of mother nature. As we absorb Vitamin D, and tune into the natural melodies of the great outdoors, we practice appreciating the strength of our practice without needing to achieve anything other than coming into the present moment and truly experiencing it.
Come as you are, be in the flow, and enjoy homemade pastries, coffee and mimosas.
This is a donation-based offering. Suggested donation: $20 (feel free to drop in donation basket on refreshment table after class)
Due to the privacy of this location, the address will be disclosed upon RSVP.
Guided by Gillian Whatmore
Gillian was introduced to yoga while completing high school in England. She was drawn to the transformative, therapeutic nature of the practice and continually sought classes through many moves and jobs. Landing in Miami in 1992 she attended classes in Iyengar’s alignment based yoga while attending massage therapy school. Enthralled by the ability of the body to revitalize and realign itself through the yoga practice she began teaching and attended workshops with Manuso Manos, Patricia Walden, Kevin Gardner, John Schumacher, and other senior Iyengar instructors.
Gillian moved to Sarasota in 2001 with her husband, Cliff and took a hiatus from teaching to raise their two children, Sarsen and Reece. She more recently embraced the heartfelt Anusara Yoga style and enjoys how this complements her alignment based training, bringing a fun expansive nature to her teaching. Gillian’s classes combine safe, therapeutic alignment-based instruction appropriate for all levels, simple breathwork and a subtle intention to celebrate and express our spirit from inside out.
- About Instructor: My name is Cory George. Yoga found me in 2008 when I was living in Oxford, MS. A special friend of mine introduced me to the practice as a way to rehab my aching back. Injured from years of sports and lifting weights (slightly improperly). Yoga quickly became an obsession as I discovered how my body was intended to move. As I learned more I became interested in making it my life's pursuit and signed up for the teacher training program at Satya Yoga in Dallas, TX. Through my teachers I became a part of the Sivananda lineage, earning my 200 hour certificate in June 2016. From there I taught at studios in Chattanooga, TN, established a community class in Cañon City, CO and Hartford, TN and taught at a studio on St Thomas in the USVI, as well as a culinary and wellness center. I came to Sarasota just over a year ago to join Get Bent Yoga Studio and the thriving yoga family here! I am also a student of ayurveda, the healing side of yoga, at the California College of Ayurveda. I teach a creative flow style that is rooted in vinyasa, but allows for individual options, bringing in elements of some martial arts and calisthenics. I am truly honored to join the Unwind team and represent Heather, my yoga, my family and myself.
